What is Porous Aluminum?

 Porous aluminum is a material that has many unique applications. There are many pores inside and is ultra-lightweight, with high specific rigidity, and features an excellent shock absorption rate and sound absorption characteristics. Furthermore, it is used as a filter for water treatment using Polyethylene. SAKAE Casting's porous aluminum takes advantage of the characteristics of the material and uses a manufacturing method that makes it difficult for aluminum to come off. By reducing the frequency of filter replacement, it is highly possible to reduce material costs.

Heat Dissipation Material that Cools More Effectively than Traditional Methods

The electronic equipment industry and the semiconductor industry are also required to take measures against heat due to the miniaturization of equipment and the sophistication of performance. The importance of heat measures can be divided into the fields of machinery, function, and safety. Thermal design and countermeasures are becoming important factors in maintaining product value in all fields.
Porous aluminum is expected to replace fin-type radiators as a material that further increases the heat dissipation rate in many products.

A New, Effective Cooling & Filtration Solution

Conventional porous materials are brittle and deteriorate with repeated use and must be replaced regularly.
However, porous aluminum manufactured by SAKAE Casting is more durable, so the filter needs to be replaced less frequently.
Currently, we have an ongoing development project to control the holes in porous aluminum.
At the moment, the density can be controlled at 60% to 70%, but since this density has a large effect depending on the intended use, we are testing different densities.
